Population growth is one indicator. Capital investment is another, and Jackson County has both. SK Battery America's manufacturing site in Commerce, GA started as a $1.67 billion investment and more than 2,000 jobs, one of the largest economic development projects in Georgia's history. Since then, the company has added a second battery plant and further investment in its Commerce operations, bringing its total commitment in the county past $2.5 billion. Investment at that scale does not happen in a county without real confidence in its workforce, its infrastructure, and where it is headed.
